 Where to start you French Property search - The Internet

Starting with a simple search on the Internet you can gain a wealth of information of property agents in France. Here on this site you will find plenty of leads to get you started in the right direction. The Internet is a very good medium to find a suitable estate agents in your chosen area of France.

Another start point can be magazines as these can give you a good idea of the different areas of France and what they offer. However most private advertisers that you see advertised may well have sold their properties by the time the magazine goes to print ! But to find estate agents advertising with a web site you will then be able to start your search for a up to date list of French properties for sale.

French property bought from private individuals will of course save on agency fees, which are quite high. You will still need to use a Notaire to handle the legalities of the sale.

It is also possible to visit a Notaires office as they often have properties advertised for sale, very much like an estate agency.

French papers are another source of private properties for sale, and of course you may well pass through a village and see the distinctive "A vendre" or "AV" sale with a private telephone number. If your French is up to a telephone conversation this could be a good starting point.
